Nextfest Niteclubs Call for Submissions 2015

Nextfest, Niteclubs   /

Call for Submissions
Nextfest NiteClubs 2015
Curated by Beth Dart of Catch the Keys Productions

The Nextfest NiteClubs are a series of multidisciplinary performance parties showcasing emerging artists of all disciplines – theatre, dance, film, performance art, visual art, installations and absolutely anything else!

Performances range from 30 seconds to full evening installations and roving performances. For the purpose of this festival, “emerging” refers to artists under the age of 30 who are not professionally represented.

High-energy interdisciplinary collaborations, non-traditional experimental performance and performer created work encouraged. All performers must be at least 18 years old.

Each NiteClub has a theme that is open to interpretation.

The themes for 2015 are:

Saturday, June 6th: The 7th Annual Rise Up!
For the politically inclined artist, Rise Up is your revolution – it’s the what-if, the could-be, the should-be, the will-be. Your revolution is politics and semantics, artistics and music. What fires you up, pisses you off, makes you passionate about the state of the world? NOTE: Rise Up! will also include the 2nd Annual Take Back the Mic Spoken Word Slam. Poets, stay tuned – more info on how to register coming soon!

Friday, June 12: Theme TBD
Been dying to test out an idea? Shoot us a pitch! This theme will be decided based on submissions.

Saturday, June 13: The 8th Annual Smut Cabaret
Risqué, sexy, lewd, vulgar…fetishes, desires, sexuality, and everything between. Flaunt your naughty side, taunt and tease, make your audience squirm.

Please submit the following requirements to Nextfest NiteClub Curator, Beth Dart, at bdart@catchthekeys.ca:

– A description of your piece
– Technical requirements, if known
– Contact information, including website links and twitter handle
– Any additional support material
– Please note if you are interested in collaborating with an artist of another discipline.

Submissions for the 2015 Nextfest Nite Clubs will stay open until programming is full.
