NEXTFEST EMERGING ARTS FESTIVAL 2019 4 CALLS FOR VISUAL ARTISTS
Nextfest is now accepting Visual Art submissions for the 2019 Festival. The festival runs May 30 – June 9 in Edmonton, Alberta. Nextfest is an opportunity for emerging visual artists to create and show new work. For the purpose of this festival, “emerging” refers to artists in the first 10 years of their practice and who are not professionally represented.

Nextfest is also an opportunity to collaborate. If you are interested in working with another artist on a new work, let us know!

This year there are four opportunities related to Visual Art. Please read through all of them. Applicants are welcome to answer more than one call. The Exhibition Coordinator position is offered through the Serving Communities Internship Program (SCiP) and is exclusive to currently enrolled or recently graduated post-secondary students registered in Alberta.

GALLERY EXHIBITIONS
Deadline: March 30

The Nextfest Galleries host visual art work that is on display for the duration of the festival. The galleries can accommodate a variety of different works including sculpture and pieces that need to be suspended. Feel free to dream big with proposals for these spaces. The curator would like to see images of either finished work or a coherent proposal for new work. Contact the curator for more information on the gallery venues. All gallery artists will be paid an artist exhibition fee.

Submission guidelines (please include all):
• 5-10 JPG images of work with image list: title, dimensions, and medium
• Artist statement
• Short bio and/or CV

The Visual Art Exhibition Coordinator will need to be available before, during and after the festival to assist with the galleries. This position is ideal for someone with course work in Arts Administration/Management or Fine Arts. The Exhibition Coordinator will be paid an honorarium for their work.
